Contract Term: 7 months
PR Goal
Layo engaged TAC with the goal of positioning Wolomi (and its companion App) as the premier authority and resource in maternal health, with a specific focus on addressing the needs of women of color.
The Wolomi App plays a pivotal role in this mission by connecting women of color to culturally sensitive health experts, mental health screenings, and a supportive community.
Layo’s secondary PR goal was to secure thought leadership media coverage to position her as a subject matter expert in her industry.
The Strategy
TAC created and executed a multi-pronged communications strategy that included crafting timely narratives leveraging current news, awareness initiatives, and policies in the maternal healthcare industry – starting with Black Maternal Health Week (April).
This approach quickly generated media coverage in outlets like Essence, Bloomberg, Sweet July, and Black Enterprise. In addition to targeted media pitching, TAC also conducted media training with the founder, enhancing her interview readiness and brand image.
Additionally, TAC secured thought leadership features and speaking opportunities for Wolomi’s founder by highlighting her credibility as a Nurse and Maternal Health Expert.

Wolomi’s Companion App
The Results
TAC played a key role in re-launching Wolomi’s companion app, with downloads tripling during our PR engagement. Our awareness strategies also drove significant website traffic and social media growth. The partnership secured diverse media coverage from business publications like Washington Business Journal & Bloomberg, to tech outlets like AfroTech & Technically DC, to Black interest media like Essence, Black Enterprise, Roland Martin Unfiltered, & Therapy for Black Girls.
The momentum extended beyond our contract term, leading to additional press placements, speaking opportunities, and Wolomi’s first enterprise client (a large healthcare provider). The founder credits our campaign with helping Wolomi get into the competitive Techstars accelerator. Our efforts resulted in a significant boost in brand perception and recognition.
